UN Initiatives for Women and the SIOP UN Committee SIOP UN Committee Meredith Turner / Saturday, April 1, 2017 0 2098 Article rating: No rating The United Nations has focused on important issues related to women for over 60 years, and a UN entity, UN Women, focuses exclusively on issues for women and girls. These issues are extensive and include themes such as equal access to education, ending all violence and discrimination, decent work, and economic empowerment for women globally. High-level meetings of the Commission on the Status of Women are held annually with UN member states from around the world to set goals and assess progress. Many NGOs at the United Nations assist with these initiatives. Read more
