The Industrial-Organizational Psychologist (TIP) is the official publication of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Inc. It is posted online quarterly by the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Inc., 6635 W. Central Ave. #105, Toledo, OH 43617. More than 9,000 members and other interested readers are notified when a new issue is made available.

Mission Statement: The Industrial-Organizational Psychologist (TIP) is an official publication of the Society for Industrial and Psychology, Inc. The purpose of TIP is to provide news, research, reports, and noncommercial information related to the fundamental practice, science, and teaching issues in industrial and organizational psychology. TIP is a trade journal that serves as one of the primary venues for communication with the SIOP membership, to communicate I-O science, practice, and training trends and issues to a broad audience of academics, practitioners, and non-I-O business professionals.

TIP encourages submissions of papers addressing issues related to the practice, science, and/or teaching of industrial and organizational psychology. Preference is given to submissions that have broad appeal to SIOP members, that represent and acknowledge diverse perspectives, and that are written to be understood by a diverse range of readers.
Preparation and Submission of Manuscripts, Articles, and News Items
Authors may correspond with Editor Adriane M. F. Sanders, via email, at siop.tip.editor@gmail.com. All manuscripts, articles, and news items for publication consideration should be submitted in electronic form (Word compatible); please contact the Editor at the above email address if you have questions about the process or the submission itself. Three thousand (3,000) words is an approximate target/maximum for such submissions, but departures from this requirement may be negotiated with the editor. Submissions should be written according to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 7th edition. Submissions should be written in a manner that is consistent in all ways with SIOP’s Anti-Harassment Policy.
All graphics (including color or black and white photos) should be sized close to finish print size, at least 300 dpi resolution, and saved in a common graphic format (e.g., TIF, EPS, JPG, or PDF).
Submission of any original and editorial work to TIP comes with the implied confirmation that all listed authors have approved the manuscript (at all stages of review and revision) and that .the material has not been published and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
Preparation of News and Reports, IOTAS, SIOP Members in the News, Obituaries
Items for these sections should be succinct and brief. Obituaries (up to 500 words) should include information about the person’s involvement with SIOP and I-O psychology. Digital photos are welcome. Submissions should be written in a manner that is consistent in all ways with SIOP’s Anti-Harassment Policy.
Preparation and Submission of Letters to the Editor
Authors may correspond with the Editor via e-mail at siop.tip.editor@gmail.com. All letters to the Editor that are sent for the purposes of possibly being published in TIP should be submitted in electronic form (Word compatible); please contact the Editor for submission instructions at the above e-mail address. Five hundred (500) words is an approximate target/maximum for such submissions, but departures from this requirement may be negotiated with the Editor. Submissions should be written in a manner that is consistent in all ways with SIOP’s Anti-Harassment Policy.
Submission of any original and editorial work to TIP comes with the implied confirmation that all listed authors have approved the manuscript (at all stages of review and revision).
Review and Selection
Every submission is reviewed and evaluated by the Editor for conformity to the overall guidelines and suitability for TIP. All Feature article submissions may be subject to peer review at the discretion of the editor. Submissions well in advance of issue deadlines are appreciated. However, the Editor reserves the right to determine the appropriate issue to publish an accepted submission. Letters to the Editor or any related submissions may be subject to additional review by one or more TIP Editorial Board members and/or the Communications Portfolio Officer as part of the review and selection process. Submissions requiring a response from SIOP Administrative Office staff, the Executive Board, or SIOP committees will be considered for publication with a companion response when appropriate. Extra lead/review time beyond the deadlines noted below should be allowed if authors wish their letter to be published in a specific issue. All items published in TIP are copyrighted by SIOP.
Publication decisions are solely that of the Editor, and it is at their discretion that all submissions will be considered for publication.
Article deadlines for each issue are:
- Summer issue--May 1 deadline
- Fall issue--August 1 deadline
- Winter issue--November 1 deadline
- Spring issue--February 1 deadline
Note: In the rare event that a submission is reliant upon breaking news, please consider other outlets that may better serve SIOP’s membership. If this is impossible, please reach out to the Editor with a request to arrange a deadline that does not conform with the above requirements. Exceptions will be evaluated for feasibility in cooperation with SIOP Administrative Office staff.
