March Conversation Series: Shane Connelly & Matt Jensen

Save the date for the third Conversation Series event of 2023 featuring Shane Connelly and her colleague Matt Jensen who will talk about science for positive societal transformation.

Interdisciplinary research where I-O psychologists play a key role in addressing societal issues is on the rise. Dealing with the types of challenges our communities and societies face today requires consideration of human behavior in all of its complexity. I-O psychologists can help by not only considering individuals, but the larger groups, organizations, cultures, and social systems in which they are embedded.

Shane Connelly, Professor of I-O Psychology and Director of the Institute for Society and Community Transformation, and Matt Jensen, Associate Professor of Management Information Systems and Co-Director of the Center for Applied Social Research at the University of Oklahoma, will bring interesting insight on developing a vision to transform communities and societies. The institutes that Connelly and Jensen lead aim to facilitate research that bridges disciplines and builds partnerships with organizations beyond the university to better connect academic expertise with those who can benefit from the research. They will talk about some of the grant research projects they are involved in, such as studying the effects of extremism and misinformation in online platforms.

Join the conversation from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. ET on March 23 where they will share information and updates live from all of these channels:

Organized by the SIOP Electronic Communication Committee, the SIOP Conversation Series features thought leaders in academia and industry in an “Ask Me Anything” style conversation about their work and I-O-related topics. Listeners will have the opportunity to ask real-time questions and interact with the speaker.
