APA Apportionment Ballot Closes Soon

On November 1, the American Psychological Association (APA) sent an electronic ballot notification to its members requesting they allocate their votes among the APA divisions. We are asking these members to please participate and allocate all 10 votes to Division 14.

Last year, Division 14 lost an APA Council seat through the apportionment process. Therefore, starting January 1, 2023, SIOP will have only three instead of four Council Representatives. Your vote will have an impact—last year, only a small number of additional votes would have prevented the loss of one of our Council seats.

This Council seat is essential to ensuring SIOP’s voice – and the collective voice of applied psychologists – is heard within the APA. Let’s work together to gain this seat back for 2024 through this upcoming vote.

The apportionment ballot asks you to allocate 10 votes among the divisions and state associations with which you are affiliated. These votes are used to determine how many seats each division and state association receives on the APA Council of Representatives.

Please allocate as many of your votes as possible to our division (Division 14 of APA). The APA Council of Representatives makes decisions about many items of critical interest to SIOP members, including practice issues, advocacy, the science agenda, and research funding. The more representatives we have, the stronger our voice in APA, and the better we can ensure that APA's activities and spending consider our specific needs.

Check your email for a message from the APA with the apportionment ballot link. A link can also be accessed through your APA account.

We urge you to allocate as many of your votes as possible to SIOP (Division 14 of APA). Please return your ballot before the close of voting on December 15, 2022
