These events have required organizations and employees to take notice and address the problem of racism and inequities head on. SIOP members and organizational partners have been studying diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) for many years. I-O psychologists specialize in understanding human behavior at work and creating evidence-based practices to help organizations and workers thrive. A collection of resources, backed by I-O science, to help organizations, leaders, and employees address DEI topics across the talent lifecycle is now available on the SIOP website. SIOP, in partnership with the National Academy of Human Resources, also recently released the resource Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: Perspectives From Chief Human Resources Officers and Academic Researchers, which summarizes key interviews with chief human resource officers (CHROs), chief diversity officers (CDOs), and scholars who conduct research in the areas of diversity and inclusion. This resource provides perspectives on issues organizations face related to providing equal access to key opportunities, increasing diversity in leadership roles, and creating an environment of trust and belonging—particularly among people of color. Businesses seeking expert assistance in DEI topics to help their organizations and employees can find an I-O psychology professional in the SIOP Consultant Locator.
