Amber Stark / Tuesday, February 2, 2021 / Categories: Items of Interest, SIOP Source New Professional Membership Dues Rate Effective March 1 A SIOP membership represents belonging to a premier community of industrial-organizational psychologists, access to a depth of resources and career development opportunities, support of external efforts to advocate for and advance the field, and investment in future I-Os throughout their educational pursuits. To continue providing the many benefits and services available to SIOP members and the I-O community, and importantly, to help bring SIOP’s new strategic plan and investments to life over the next 3 years, the SIOP Executive Board voted at its January meeting to raise professional membership dues to $160 effective March 1. The dues rate for Student Affiliates and retired members is not being raised and will remain $55. “SIOP is continuously pursuing new and improved ways to serve its members,” said Evan Sinar, SIOP Financial Officer/Secretary. “Many valuable benefits have been added and expanded in the past few years, including virtual learning through workshops, podcasts, and a conversation series, subsidized Research Access, several registries (e.g., Cybersecurity), the I-O Career Paths tool, and practical guides for topics ranging from advocacy to online teaching. This modest dues increase will allow SIOP to continue on this path of current and future service to its members.” SIOP has not raised dues for 3 years and endeavors to set dues at rates that are as affordable as possible and continues to be under- or similarly priced relative to other professional scientific societies and peer organizations. Although the decision to raise dues effective March 1 is occurring mid-fiscal year, it is anticipated that any future dues pricing adjustments will be deliberated and decided by the Executive Board within the comprehensive SIOP budgeting process that occurs each summer rather than occurring off cycle.
