Presenter Biographies:
PART 1: WHAT’S FOR REAL? -Dr. Reeshad Dalal (George Mason University) and Dr. Marino Mugayar-Baldocchi (McKinsey & Company)
Dr. Reeshad Dalal (Ph.D., Industrial-Organizational Psychology, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) is a Professor of Industrial and Organizational (I-O) Psychology at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. He is a Fellow of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, where he also serves on the Executive Board, and the Association for Psychological Science. His research has been published in books and journals such as the Annual Review of Organizational Psychology and Organizational Behavior, the Journal of Applied Psychology, the Academy of Management Journal, and many others. In addition to his academic work, he has applied evidence-based I-O practices at institutions such as the Department of Homeland Security and the Office of Personnel Management.
Dr. Marino Mugayar-Baldocchi (Ph.D., Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Baruch College) is a Research Science Expert and one of the emerging leaders of McKinsey & Company’s Future of Work knowledge development efforts. Over the last year, he has co-led the Firm’s work on understanding the Great Attrition, authoring a number of publications on the topic. His inaugural piece on the topic (The Great Attrition or the Great Attraction: The Choice is Yours) was read by over a million people and was recognized by David Green as one of the most influential pieces in the People Analytics Space in 2021. He has worked with numerous Fortune 100 companies on future of work related issues, primarily around capability-building, well-being, and attrition.

Dr. Seymour Adler (Ph.D., Industrial-Organizational Psychology, New York University) is a Partner and Global Leader of the Leadership Assessment and Development practice at Kincentric. For over 40 years, he has consulted for Fortune 500 companies and public agencies on issues of talent assessment and development and has contributed widely to the academic and professional literatures. He is the 2019 recipient of SIOP’s Award for Distinguished Professional Contributions to the field.
Dr. Brian J. Ruggeberg (Ph.D., Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Old Dominion University) is a Managing Director and Partner in Kincentric’s Leadership Assessment and Development practice. He has over 30 years of consulting experience and has designed and implemented a wide range of assessment, development, and talent management programs for leading organizations across a range of industries. He also has over 20 years of executive coaching experience. Brian is an active member of SIOP and APA, former president of METRO, and a founding member of the Corporate Advisory Boards of Hofstra University and Farmingdale State College SUNY.

Dr. Chad Thompson (Ph.D., Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Wright State University) is a Principal at Mix Talent, a talent acquisition and management consulting firm. Mix Talent, the firm he co-founded in 2018, has been recognized as a Best Place to Work and Top 10 Talent Management organization. His work has focused on selection and development across a wide variety of industries, levels, and organizational contexts. His academic research has been published in peer-reviewed journals, scientific conferences, and in the popular press.
3. Leveraging the Aging Workforce
Dr. Miriam Nelson (Ph.D., Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Stevens Institute of Technology) is a Senior Partner in Korn Ferry’s Assessment and Succession. She leads the client teams for several of Korn Ferry’s largest clients and is building practice-wide capability around assessment innovations. Miriam formerly led Aon Hewitt’s Leadership Assessment and Development practice in North America. She has given career transitions, and “the third chapter” significant thought and recently facilitated a SIOP Conference session on leveraging the aging workforce.
Dr. Paul VanKatwyk (Ph.D., Industrial-Organizational Psychology, University of South Florida is the head of Executive Assessment & Coaching within Saudi Aramco. His team reports to the CEO and provides oversight of the leadership pipeline for the top 300+ leaders. Previously, he spent 25 years in a global consulting company where he progressed to the senior partner level. Throughout his career, he has been in delivery and/or leadership roles primarily focused around executive assessment, leadership development and succession management. His publications have included a chapter in The Oxford Handbook of Work and Aging (2012). Along with Dr. Nelson he recently facilitated a SIOP Conference session on leveraging the aging workforces.
4. Employee Listening and Culture
Dr. Evan Sinar (Ph.D, Industrial-Organizational, Bowling Green State University) is Head of Assessments at BetterUp. He is focused on more deeply understanding the nuances of employee experience to determine not only what factors are important but to quantify what factors are most important, and in what order. His latest research provide new insights on where businesses can best invest for impact. Previously he was Chief Scientist and Vice President at Development Dimensions International where he worked for over 18 years.
5. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Dr. Bernardo Ferdman (Ph.D, Psychology, Yale University) is Principal and Founder of Ferdman Consulting and distinguished professor emeritus of organizational psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology, Alliant International University. He has consulted with multiple organizations in bringing inclusion to life and creating an inclusive world and workplaces. . He has published extensively on diversity, inclusion and multicultural issues, including the SIOP Professional Practice Series book, Diversity at Work: The Practice of Inclusion (Wiley, 2014) and Inclusive Leadership: Transforming Diverse Lives, Workplaces, and Societies (Routledge, 2021).
6. Bringing Women Back
Dr. Anna Marie Valerio (Ph.D., Psychology, The City University of New York) is President of Executive Leadership Strategies, LLC, specializes in executive coaching and women’s leadership development in Fortune 500 and other organizations. She teaches executive coaching in New York University’s I/O Psychology Master’s Program and authored two books by Wiley, Developing Women Leaders: A Guide for Men and Women in Organizations and Executive Coaching: A Guide for the HR Professional, and many articles for the business audience. Dr. Valerio has held strategic HR roles in IBM, Verizon, and Sony Electronics, Inc.
Mr. Jeff Quinn (M.S. and ABD, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Penn State University) is Managing Principal of Leadership Insights & Development, LLC. Executive Coaching. He has over 30 years of experience in talent management, executive coaching, and human capital consulting and has consulted with many leading organizations around the world including the United Nations. He is dedicated to the development of diverse, inclusive global leaders and has received awards for his efforts to safeguard DEIB and civil rights as a Board Member for GLSEN.
7. Workplace Flexibility
Ms. Terri McNelly (M.S., Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Texas A&M University) is Senior Manager, Executive Development at The Hershey Company. She leads Hershe’s efforts to ensure sustained leadership excellence at this century-old iconic company as they continually re-invent and innovate. She actively participated in developing flexible work options at Hershey to adapt to the pandemic and post pandemic world. Prior to her role at Hershey she worked as a consultant for over 20 years at Aon Hewitt and DDI supporting a range of industries including healthcare, pharmaceutical, government, technology, telecom, finance, insurance, and hospitality.
Dr. Chia-Lin Ho, (Ph.D., Industrial-Organizational Psychology, North Carolina State University) is a Learning Measurement Consultant of the Learning and Careers function at Red Hat. She is passionate about helping organizations factor human behavior into the successful business equation through applying data analytics and cutting edge research. For over 15 years, she has consulted for organizations in the business, government, and non-profit sectors on issues of talent assessment and organizational development, and is a thought leader on assessment, measurement and program evaluation.
