Title: Member-At-Large, APA Board of Directors
Term: 2022-2024
The Board of Directors is the administrative agent of the Council of Representatives (COR), sharing all motions from committees, boards, and individual COR representatives to the full Council, generally with a recommendation for action. BOD also has important fiduciary responsibilities, including making recommendations to the Council about an annual budget as well as APA investment policies and real estate holdings.
The Board of Directors consists of APA’s six officers (president, president-elect, past president, recording secretary, treasurer, and chief staff officer), six members at large, the chair and chair-elect of the Council Leadership Team, the past chair of APAGS (American Psychological Association of Graduate Students), and a public member.
The six members at large are elected by and from the general APA membership.

I’m excited to be a candidate for the APA Board of Directors and would like your vote. There have been exciting, positive changes at APA the past several years, including a renewed focus on impact. Through my service on APA Council and chairing the Exploratory Committee on Applied Psychology, I have been a strong advocate within APA that this should include impact in the settings where applied psychologists conduct research and operate. This includes the workplace; organizations concerned with the design and implementation of new technology and social media; organizations focused on public safety, security and privacy organizations; educational institutions; organizations concerned about the role of human behavior in climate change; the criminal justice system; sports and athletic organizations; and of course healthcare and emotional well-being. We have had strong support within APA leadership. APA has formed an Office of Applied Psychology. APA has been engaged in advocacy work with government officials and with business/organization and HR leaders on a wide range of issues we care about, including the impact of Covid-19 on work; ameliorating racism and promoting diversity, equity and inclusion; support for veterans re-entering the workforce; and support for working women who have borne much of caregiving during the pandemic. I would like to continue that work and contribute to a strong APA organization as a member of the APA Board of Directors. You can learn more about my strengths and my commitments as a candidate in this video. I appreciate your consideration and your vote. Each year, just a handful of APA members vote in the APA election. Your vote can make a huge difference. When you get your election notice in the mail from APA, please take a few minutes to cast your vote!
She has extensive experience in APA governance, serving in a variety of roles, enabling her to get things done.
She has demonstrated a good grasp of applied psychology and was able to offer very specific suggestions and ideas in response to our questions.
Her actions within Council have demonstrated thoughtfulness and ability to think big picture about psychology beyond health services.
Her experience with federal funders, foundations, and policymakers should be helpful to advancing advocacy initiatives.
