What sparked your interest in I-O psychology?
I took an undergraduate OB class and loved it. I asked the instructor what she was studying and she told me she was getting her PhD in I-O Psychology.

What role do you see I-O psychology playing in the future of work?
We have the opportunity to play a key role in understanding how jobs and organizations will evolve and how we can successfully adapt for the betterment of humanity

What work trends are you seeing and hearing about and how can I-O psychology practitioners, educators, and students impact these trends?
The role of managers and HR seem to have become untenable! Our field can help redesign these roles and equip the incumbents to perform and grow for the future. Leadership gaps are not going away in spite of massive investment—we must innovate in this space to help solve this problem.

What advice would you give to students or those early in their career?
One, work inside an organization to learn what it is like to try to deploy human interviews and programs, and two, go deep on data and quant skills.

What is one of your favorite SIOP Annual Conference memories/highlights?
I've lived in Singapore for the past 25 years, and when I do get to the SIOP Annual Conference I just love seeing old friends and feeling reinvigorated by the learning. It feeds my soul.

Please share one non-I-O-related bit of information about yourself.
I'm married to a fellow I-O psychologist, James D. Eyring. He and I have been married since we met in graduate school 35 years ago. We have 2 daughters who now live in the U.S.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

I love our field and yet I wish we had a greater impact! We are the science behind much of HR and fields of leader, team, and organization effectiveness; and we need to have a stronger voice in shaping leadership, organization, and team practices.
