SIOP Celebrates its Volunteers

Every year, during the month of April, volunteers around the world are celebrated for sharing their time, energy, and talents with those around them. SIOP is joining the celebration by acknowledging the hard work and commitment shown by its nearly 1,000 volunteer members.

You can join us in this celebration by leaving a note of gratitude for a volunteer on the SIOP Volunteer Appreciation Kudoboard. We will also highlight a few of our volunteers here in the Source later this month.

SIOP volunteers are encouraged to stop by the SIOP Commons in the Exhibit Hall during the 2024 SIOP Annual Conference in Chicago where they can enter seven different raffles, meet other committee members, and pick up an exclusive Committee Member badge ribbon.

SIOP’s governance model relies on dedicated volunteer involvement. Throughout the past year, volunteers have organized several informative webinars, contributed to TIP, provided various mentoring programs, and so much more.

In addition to serving on a committee, you can volunteer by:

  • Advocating for and promoting I-O psychology
  • Running for SIOP office
  • Sharing your expertise and opinions
  • Serving as a conference proposal reviewer
  • Helping at the conference
  • And more!

As part of SIOP’s goal to build a diverse, inclusive, and agile Society, we welcome volunteers from all areas of I-O psychology and from all stages of their careers. If you would like to serve SIOP in a volunteer role, keep an eye out for the SIOP Volunteer System (SVS) opening May 1. All members who have paid their dues for 2025 will get an email when the SVS opens. All members, except Affiliates, are eligible to volunteer. We look forward to working with you to promote the science, practice, and teaching of I-O psychology.
