Below this message is the Call for Volunteers. It provides more specifics for this one-time commitment and a link to some survey questions in Survey Monkey. ASPPB looks forward to receiving applications by Wednesday, Nov. 8. Then, they will send formal invitations after balancing out on professional and demographic backgrounds. Standard setting is a critical step in the exam development process. ASPPB solicits subject matter experts (SMEs) who understand the competency standards and the performance of test-takers in the subject area to determine the test scores that correspond to specified test-taker performance levels. Standard setting is a two-step process that first requires SMEs to adequately describe the performance levels then review exam items and offer judgement to the likely performance of candidates from those performance levels. Actual exam performance can be also used to help with the expert judgement. Panelists need not have expertise in standard setting. Panelists selected will receive pre-meeting materials and a thorough training regarding the standard setting process at the meeting.
