Several themes arose in the compilation of this report. According to the APA, “In 2023, psychological science will be at the core of addressing pressing societal issues. The future of work, the mental health of the nation’s youth, and large-scale change will all depend on the work of psychologists and collaboration with others.” 11 emerging trends: Scientists reach a wider audience Psychologists take aim at misinformation Psychological research becomes more inclusive EDI roles expand Worker well-being is in demand Efforts to improve childrens’ mental health increase Partnerships accelerate progress Suicide prevention gets a new lifeline Some faculty exit academia Venture capitalists shift focus Psychologists rebrand the field SIOP members are often quoted in the media on topics like these, and this report was no different.
