SIOP Is Hosting Two Competitions: Machine Learning and Student Consulting Challenge

After a brief hiatus, the SIOP Machine Learning Competition, a chance for the I-O psychology community to show their data science chops, is back!

Since 2018, the Machine Learning Competition has been a space where data professionals and students alike can come together and solve data science problems. No previous machine learning experience is required to enter the competition; participants will learn these skills through the competition. This team competition will take place virtually, and the top four teams will present their approaches and methods in person at the 2023 SIOP Annual Conference, April 19-22 in Boston, MA.

New for 2023, the SIOP Student Consulting Challenge is designed to provide master’s and doctoral level students an opportunity to engage in a simulated consulting experience. The challenge will be co-hosted with UKG and centered on a real business problem. Participants will work in virtual teams to create proposals for solutions, using their I-O psychology knowledge and their skills in analytics, problem solving, and presentation. Participants will learn valuable consulting skills from this experience while also growing their professional networks. Teams will have 4 days to construct a proposal that they will present to members of UKG and a panel of judges. The winners will receive a cash prize provided by OERG Consulting at Minnesota State University and will present at the 2023 SIOP Annual Conference, April 19-22 in Boston, MA.

Click here to learn more and register. Students will register as individuals and will be assigned to teams by the competition organizers. A maximum of two students per graduate program may participate. March 1 is the last day to register, however, spots are limited and may fill up before then.
