Led by Consortium Chair Elaine Pulakos, the committee assembled a high-quality educational program, featuring more than 30 experts with backgrounds in practice, research, and higher education. Attendees also had the opportunity to participate in workshops on workplace diversity, equity, and belonging; mental health; and organizational agility and resilience. “We were delighted to offer an in-person Leading Edge Consortium and see so many people in Atlanta,” Pulakos said. “It was a great event that provided practical insights and tips for improving the employee experience and dealing with the most pressing issues organizations are facing today.” Through case studies, panels, and Q&A sessions, attendees learned what employees want from their work experiences today, how organizations are improving employee well-being, inclusive models for development, advancement, and pay, and how we must equip organizations to manage through disruption “The opportunity for in-person idea sharing and networking really set LEC apart as a place for professional growth,” said attendee and SIOP member Abbe Warren. “As a newcomer to the field that experience was invaluable. My trip report recommended that all emerging Air Force leaders attend at least once.” A welcome reception was held on the terrace of the Loews Atlanta, providing a networking opportunity and a chance to enjoy the beautiful Georgia weather. On Friday, APTMetrics hosted a reception that featured a gift card drawing, followed by the popular LEC networking dinners. Attendees could pick from a diverse selection of Midtown Atlanta restaurants at which to dine and get to know others attending the event. “I learned a lot from the LEC and made new connections,” said Ian Barrett, a new SIOP Affiliate member. “There are many challenges in culture, talent, and leadership within organizations, and as a CHRO, I depend on SIOP to be the leader in cutting-edge research on workforce and workplace. I look forward to attending future SIOP programs.” Planning for the 2023 Leading Edge Consortium is already underway. More details about the event will be shared in late spring/early summer.
