This is certainly made possible through the generosity of donors, but the driving force that keeps Foundation operations running smoothly is its Board of Trustees. Through the diligent work of the Board, the Foundation has been able to further both practice and science for the field and broaden the influence of I-O psychology. In order to keep up with the demands of membership and beyond, the SIOP Foundation Board of Trustees has welcomed two new members, SIOP Fellows Dr. Alex Alonso and Dr. David Rodriguez. Alexander Alonso, PhD, SHRM-SCP, is the Society for Human Resource Management's (SHRM) chief knowledge officer, leading research, insights, and innovation functions, as well as the SHRM Foundation. His total portfolio includes a $100 million revenue stream based upon practical thought leadership designed to make better workplaces for a more inclusive world. Alonso was recognized as an inaugural member of the Blue Ribbon Commission on Racial Equity in the Workplace, a coalition designed to foster equitable and inclusive cultures. He has served as a member of several speakers bureaus, with more than 400 speaking engagements over the last decade, and has been called “one of the most effective communicators of data in recent memory by HR Magazine. “Serving of the SIOP Foundation Board of Trustees is one of the greatest professional honors, as I can help our profession change the world,” he said. David Rodriguez, PhD, NACD.DC, brings nearly 40 years of experience in I-O psychology, specifically in human capital management. He received his PhD in I-O psychology from New York University in 1987 and has gone on to work at Avon, Citibank, and Marriott International. He is responsible for developing Marriott’s award-winning employee wellbeing and cultural empowerment program, and led the successful cultural integration of Starwood brands creating the world’s largest hotel company in 2016. He has since retired from Marriott and now serves as a public board director for American Woodmark. In addition to being a SIOP Fellow, Rodriguez is also a Fellow of National Academy of Human Resources (NAHR). “I am excited to join the SIOP Foundation board at such a pivotal moment for human capital management in the boardroom and c-suite,” Rodriguez said. “The need for science-based insight to create smarter workplaces that promote both organizational excellence and human wellbeing has never been greater." Foundation Board members serve 5-year terms.
