Work Smart Series Delivered Wealth of Expertise and Resources on “The Great R”

The June 7 Work Smart Session – The “Great R”:  Reality, Response and Reset in a Post-Pandemic Workplace – delivered on the goal of blending the best of science and practice to address the new realities of work. If you missed the live session, it’s not too late to benefit from the resources and information shared.

Register by July 16 to access the videos for the main session and breakouts, all slides, breakout session discussion notes, and bonus resources. Once purchased, material will be available through the end of 2022. Please note, CE credit will not be available for video-only participants.

The session was moderated by Dr. Reeshad Dalal, professor at George Mason University, and featured Dr. Marino Mugayar-Baldocchi, research scientist at McKinsey & Company and author of highly influential research, The Great Attrition or the Great Attraction: The Choice is Yours. Marino shared data on the realities of the Great R including the mismatch between factors that employees find important and what employers think is important. 

Breakout sessions were facilitated by 11 scientist–practitioners who generously shared their research and experiences.

  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion – Dr. Bernardo Ferdman (Ferdman Consulting)
  • Bringing Women Back – Dr. Anna Marie Valerio (Executive Leadership Strategies) and Mr. Jeff Quinn, (Leadership Insights & Development)
  • Workplace Flexibility – Ms. Terri McNelly (Hershey) and Dr. Chia-Lin Ho (Red Hat)

The collective wisdom of participants was captured for each of the 14 breakout sessions. Post session evaluations indicate that 96% of participants agreed or strongly agreed the speakers created an opening and welcoming environment that supported their learning. Perhaps the comments of one of the participants summarize the June 7 session best: “Overall, this session was informative and useful. The content is current, and I-O psychologists can play a big role in strategizing initiatives to help with this phenomenon. Speakers were great. Thank you.”
