What Are You Doing Wednesday?

Preconference events can give you a head start

The SIOP 2020 Annual Conference officially begins with Opening Plenary on Thursday, April 23. However, you can jump start your learning and networking by attending one of the many preconference events on Wednesday!

Workshops

SIOP has 10 workshops on diverse topics such as storytelling, surveys, coaching, and more. Each workshop is presented on Wednesday, April 22, 2020, in both the morning and afternoon sessions so attendees can best choose what fits their schedule. The full day registration fee includes two different workshop sessions, lunch, coffee breaks, and entrance to the evening reception. The half day registration fee includes one workshop session, a coffee break, and the evening reception. Registration for the workshops is done via the online conference registration process on a first-come, first served basis. Consortia

The SIOP Consortia Committee will host four (4) partially integrated consortia tracks that will help meet the educational and developmental goals of all in attendance. This 3-decade tradition continues of hosting consortia for graduate students (Master’s Consortium and Doctoral Consortium), faculty (Junior Faculty Consortium), and our most recent addition, the Early Career Practitioner Consortium! 

This four-part program provides a well-rounded, comprehensive career- and professional-development experience for the entire I-O pipeline. Consortia participants gain the benefit of information exchange and networking with others within the same career track AND similar stage of career. This year we will have a reception for registrants; please join us!  Full details on all four events can be found at https://0-www-siop-org.library.alliant.edu/Annual-Conference/Sessions/2020-Conference-Consortia

 

Individual Leadership Assessment Course

The SIOP Professional Practice Portfolio invites you to participate in its Advanced Professional Development (APD) course on Individual Leadership AssessmentThis course provides a professional development opportunity for experienced assessment psychologists to strengthen their assessment skills and techniques, and to learn from other highly experienced colleagues.

This a one-day program will present two sessions at the SIOP Annual Conference: The Secret Sauce: An Insider’s Guide to Assessment Interpretation and Integration and From Insight to Action: Advanced Approaches for Providing Assessment Feedback and Using it for Growth and Action. Tour of Austin

Just looking to get a little weird? Well SIOP has a tour for you! Learn why the motto of this Texas town is “Keep Austin Weird” during this 2-hour tour. See the historic and natural sites like the Capitol and Ladybird Lake as well as distinctively Austin sites like the Postcard and the Bat Bridge. Just want to party?

Wednesday night is the time for the Newcomer Reception, Consortia Reception & Placement Center Open House joint event, Workshop Reception, and the general Welcome Reception. Plan to meet up with all your SIOP friends and make new ones at these events.
