Anonym / Thursday, August 1, 2019 / Categories: Items of Interest A Goodbye, A New Leader, A Familiar Face The SIOP Administrative staff is bidding a fond farewell to SIOP Executive Director Jeff Hughes, who has announced his retirement effective August 31. Hughes’ last day in the Administrative Office will be August 2; and he will work in a consulting capacity while handing over the ED role to former SIOP staffer Tracy Vanneman. Hughes began his training for the SIOP Executive Director role in February 2017, taking the reins May 1 when Dave Nershi retired. During his tenure, Hughes has overseen the new web site, the restructuring of the Administrative Office, and the hiring of many new SIOP staff members, in addition to continuing responsibility for the conference, leading edge consortium, and day to day administrative duties. When asked about his time with SIOP, Hughes explained, “SIOP is an outstanding example of a well-run, volunteer-led nonprofit. The Executive Board and the Administrative Office staff work extremely well together to serve the Society’s members. It’s been a privilege being part of such a fine group of passionate volunteers and professional staff.” SIOP President Eden King stated, “The success of SIOP depends on the work of the outstanding staff in our Administrative Office (AO). We've been incredibly lucky for many years, including the last 2 in which Jeff Hughes has served as our Executive Director. We wish Jeff well as he pursues a new adventure in August and are sincerely delighted to welcome (back) our new interim executive director: Tracy Vanneman!” Vanneman will return to SIOP as Interim Executive Director. Formerly Sr. Manager-Business Development, Vanneman has extensive experience in the association realm, having also worked for CESSE and served as a consultant to other associations and nonprofits. She earned her Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential in 2018. Former SIOP President Talya Bauer remarked, “SIOP has been fortunate to have so many amazing individuals at the Administrative Offices supporting SIOP members, volunteers, and I-O psychology at large. Tracy is no exception and has always been one of my ‘go to’ people at SIOP. After missing her keen insights as well as her calm and thoughtful approach during her year away, I am thrilled to have her back in this new leadership role. SIOP is in good hands.” Vanneman explained, “SIOP members and staff are smart, engaged, and eager to work collaboratively to advance the mission. I was honored to answer the call to return and help to lead SIOP into the future.” Thank you to Jeff for all the hard work and welcome back Tracy!
