A Message of Support for Federal Workers

SIOP’s 10,000+ members work in a variety of settings, including the federal government as employees and contractors.  For this reason, we are particularly thrilled about hosting our Annual Conference in National Harbor, Maryland just outside of Washington, DC this coming April 4-6, 2019.  Despite our excitement, SIOP would be remiss in not recognizing the hardships imposed by the current partial government shutdown and the negative impact it has had on many of our members in the Washington DC area and beyond, all federal employees, the larger communities affected, and the United States overall. 

Regardless of where one stands on the political spectrum, we can all recognize that being impacted by a shutdown furlough creates unique hardships for the very public servants we count on to ensure safety and to keep federal programs and institutions functioning.  It is our hope that the current partial shutdown will end soon, and everyone can get back to work.
