Calls and Announcements

External organizations may use Calls and Announcements to share information relevant to SIOP membership (e.g., topics related to I-O psychology, HR, organizational development, workplace issues, etc.). Posts are free and limited to 300 words. They must be written by the requestor (SIOP cannot write these posts) and should include a title and a link for more information. Attachments are not supported. Each post must clearly identify the organization responsible for the information and include contact information, unless a link for more information has been provided.

Calls and Announcements is appropriate for calls for papers, announcements about relevant events or professional development opportunities, and requests for study participation. All survey requests must have appropriate approval (for example, Institutional Review Board approval) prior to being submitted. Job posts are not permitted in Calls and Announcements; please visit our Career Center or information about posting a job. Sales posts are not permitted in Calls and Announcements; please visit our Partner webpage for advertising opportunities.

Requestors may email their post to aellis@siop.org.

Calls and Announcements are available for external organizations. SIOP committee chairs should reach out to their liaison for opportunities to communicate their events and initiatives. If a committee chair does not know who their liaison is, please email siop@siop.org for assistance.

2024 SIOP Executive Board Election Results

SIOP values fair and honest elections. For the sake of transparency, the full results of the 2024 SIOP Executive Board election are shared.

Four distinguished SIOP members will take their positions on the SIOP Executive Board in April 2025, following the recently concluded annual elections. Volunteer service on the board is a hallmark of dedication and service to the profession, as well as an honor bestowed by colleagues.

The newly elected officers are:

  • Richard Landers – President-Elect
  • Michael Zickar – External Affairs Officer
  • Jaclyn Koopmann – Instructional and Educational Officer
  • William Shepherd – Professional Practice Officer

SIOP thanks all candidates for their willingness to serve and the members who voted in the election for their engagement.

Current President-Elect and Election Committee Chair Scott Tannenbaum oversaw the SIOP election.

“The enthusiasm and dedication demonstrated by the SIOP membership to actively volunteer and contribute reflects the passion and commitment that define our society and profession,” Tannenbaum said. “I look forward to working closely with our new Executive Board members as we navigate the role and ongoing contributions of I-O Psychology in the exciting new world of work.”

Richard Landers – President-Elect
I’m the John P Campbell Distinguished Professor of IO Psychology at the University of Minnesota, where I study technology in IO, focusing mostly on games, gamification, and artificial intelligence, and I am active in both psychology and interdisciplinary scholarly communities. I’ve worked with a variety of technology and consulting companies for academic research or as consulting clients through my business, Landers Workforce Science LLC, which mostly advises on or conducts audits of selection systems incorporating artificial intelligence. I believe the science-practice model is key to what makes IO psychology uniquely valuable, and I try to live both sides of it as best I can to maintain a balanced perspective. I am also a fellow of SIOP, APA, and APS.

Lander’s Goals Statement focuses on unifying I-O psychology professionals regardless of their educational background and career path through strengthening current initiatives and identifying new ones.

Michael Zickar – External Affairs Officer
Dr. Michael Zickar is the Sandman Professor of Industrial-Organizational Psychology at Bowling Green State University. He is a SIOP Fellow and has served as SIOP Historian as well as previously serving on the Executive Board (2010-2014). He also served as Chair of the Department of Psychology at BGSU for 12 years. Dr. Zickar received his PhD in industrial-organizational psychology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and has attended every SIOP conference (with the exception of one after the birth of his daughter) since 1992.

Zickar’s Goals Statement focuses on promoting the work of the SIOP Visibility Committee, expanding outreach to high school and undergraduate students, and finding new organizations to partner with.

Jaclyn Koopmann – Instructional and Educational Officer
Dr. Jaclyn (Jackie) Koopmann is a tenured Globe Life Associate Professor in the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship at Auburn University. Her research interests include teams, occupational health (including employee health conditions and behaviors), and mistreatment within the customer service context. Her work has been published in such journals as the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Management, and Journal of Organizational Behavior. She also serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Applied Psychology and Personnel Psychology. She has received numerous awards and recognition from national conferences and Auburn University for her research achievements. Her work has also been cited in popular media outlets, such as U.S. News, The New York Post, and Fortune.

Koopmann’s Goals Statement focuses on recruiting undergraduate students from diverse educational backgrounds, ensure continuing education programs meet the needs of I-O psychology professionals at all career stages, and further support traditional and non-traditional I-O psychology programs.

William Shepherd – Professional Practice Officer
William Shepherd is an I-O psychologist and talent management leader with experience and expertise in succession planning, leadership development, executive coaching, human capital analytics, employment testing and assessment, performance management, and organizational culture. He has worked within corporations as an HR leader as well as an HR consultant across a wide variety of industries.

Shepherd’s Goals Statement focuses on three main initiatives: Human Capital Analytics, Membership Inclusiveness, and Increasing Member Engagement.
