Research Community Forums Create New Opportunity for Education and Networking

New for the 2025 SIOP Annual Conference, Research Community Forums offer an additional opportunity for individuals with similar interests to connect and experience meaningful research collaboration. Three forums will be held prior to the annual conference on Wednesday, April 2, and will consist of a variety of content, such as talks or poster presentations:

  • New Directions for DEI in the Workplace: This forum aims to build a community of collaborators focused on producing meaningful theoretical insights and practical recommendations regarding diversity management, equity, and inclusion in the workplace. Participants from both science and practice who are actively engaged in diversity, equity, and inclusion work from a variety of different backgrounds and perspectives are encouraged to submit.
  • AI Applied to Selection: The goal of this forum is to promote discussion and incubate new ideas among AI researchers who are interested in addressing and highlighting challenges related to implementing AI (e.g., LLMs, NLP, Computer vision) in employee selection, including selecting candidates, ensuring fairness, generating assessments, and candidates automatically completing interviews with AI, as well as novel issues not yet discussed. Presentations will be mini talks (5-10 minutes). A wide variety of submission types are being sought, including ideas for impactful future research, practitioner case studies, novel datasets, critiques of current AI paradigms, and empirical projects that are currently in development.
  • Thinking Big, Thinking Small: Pushing Occupational Health Psychology into the Micro and Macro: This forum will bring together scholars interested in workplace health and wellness to develop research ideas at the intersection of micro (physiology, momentary experiences) and macro (economic trends, public policy) phenomena in a supportive and collaborative environment. Individuals are being sought to present recently submitted or recently published manuscripts related to this topic.

There will also be time allocated for thorough and collaborative discussions on each topic. If you are interested in expanding the scope of future I-O psychology research topics, submit your proposal before 5 p.m. ET Wednesday, October 9. More information can be found on the Research Community Forum webpage.
