SIOP Fellows Named to APA Joint Commission for the Revision of the Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing

SIOP is pleased to announce that two SIOP Fellows have been appointed to the American Psychological Association (APA) Joint Commission for the revision of the Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing. Dr. Nathan Kuncel and Dr. Stephen Stark will be joining 14 other professionals to revise the 2014 edition of the Standards.

“I am delighted and honored to be selected for this group,” said Kuncel about the nomination. “Accurate assessment has been a major contribution of psychological and educational science. Updating the Standards to incorporate new evidence and methods is an important duty.”

Stark shared this sentiment saying, “This is a timely and important revision given the proliferation of new technologies for assessment and continuing discussions about fairness in selection and certification contexts.”

Since 1966, the APA has collaborated with the American Educational Research Association (AERA) and the National Council on Measurement in Education (NCME) to produce the Standards, which are regarded as the best practices to follow in guidance on testing in the United States and several other countries. The Joint Commission will spend the coming months gathering input from numerous stakeholders to ensure a revision that continues to represent the Standards as the highest quality guidance for psychology and related professions.
