2024 SIOP Annual Conference

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I register for the conference?

Complete details about the 2024 SIOP Annual Conference can be found using the navigational menu at https://0-www-siop-org.library.alliant.edu/Annual-Conference, including the link to register.

Where can I find a schedule of events?

Once all the sessions and events are scheduled (mid-January), we will post our event schedule at a glance and our full conference program.

Who can attend the conference?

The SIOP Annual Conference is open to all. Varying registration rates apply for SIOP Student members, SIOP professional members, and nonmembers of SIOP. If you are interested in becoming a member, please view the membership criteria to learn more.

What is included in the cost of registration? Are meals provided?

With a full registration you can choose from hundreds of educational sessions to attend April 17-20, 2024. The only educational sessions requiring an additional registration fee are the Preconference Workshops, Consortia, and Friday Seminars.

Full registrants are also welcome at all SIOP general receptions and have access to the exhibit hall, a daily breakfast, and coffee breaks each afternoon. A daily lunch break will allow you to meet up with friends and colleagues at a place of your choosing, but lunch is not included in your registration. Wi-Fi is available throughout the conference. Spouses or guests may register for a small fee and are permitted in the exhibit hall and at evening receptions only (not in educational sessions). Exhibit hall-only registrants are permitted in the exhibit hall only (not in educational sessions or evening receptions).

What are the SIOP guidelines for professional behavior?

All attendees must accept the following policy statements to complete registration for the conference: SIOP Anti-Harassment Policy, SIOP Privacy Policy, and SIOP Terms of Use.

I am presenting at the conference. Do I receive a free registration?

No. Except for a handful of speakers who will be registered by the SIOP office (e.g., Preconference Workshop presenters), conference attendees, including presenters, must pay the registration fee to attend the conference. Presenters who are nonmembers must pay the nonmember conference registration rate. There are no special presenter discounts or waivers available. In the Call for Proposals for conference submissions it was stated that presenters must pay a registration fee.

Can I still submit my research for presentation at the conference?

The submission deadline was Oct. 11, 2023,per the Call for Proposals. No late submissions are accepted. The Call for Proposals for the 2024 SIOP Annual Conference will be announced in August 2024.

I am presenting a poster. What are the guidelines?

Each poster presenter will have a board that is 4 feet hight by 8 feet wide to post their information. Presenters can create on large poster or several smaller ones, but everything must fit within these dimensions. It is not recommended to just post a printout of the paper as this is difficult to read. Some services, such as https://postersmith.com/, print on fabric, making it easier to pack your presentation.

Can I earn continuing education (CE) credit at the conference?

Yes, continuing education credits are available through the Preconference Workshops. If you would like more information about continuing education credits, please visit the Continuing Education webpage

When should I plan to arrive in Chicago? When should I leave?

If you plan to attend any preconference activities (the workshops, consortia, etc.) you will want to arrive by Tuesday evening, April 16. Those events begin early Wednesday morning. For basic conference attendance, we suggest you arrive by late afternoon Wednesday, April 17. The Opening Plenary and Welcome Reception take place beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday night. The regular conference program begins bright and early the morning of Thursday, April 18. Events officially wrap up late afternoon/early evening on Saturday, April 20.

How do I book my hotel room?

The most convenient places to stay when attending the SIOP Annual Conference are one of the headquarters hotels because everything you need will be right there in the same area. Our room block usually does sell out, so book your room soon so as to not miss out. Once the host hotels are sold out, SIOP will provide additional hotel options on the hotel webpage.

How can I obtain a letter of invitation (for international attendees seeking travel visas)?

SIOP enjoys welcoming attendees from around the globe to our Annual Conference. Please contact siop@siop.org with your name, address, and information. A standard invitation letter will be emailed to you.

SIOP’s Conference Career Center (CCC) provides a platform for employers to find I-O talent and for job seekers to find roles for the next phase in their careers. The Conference Career Center is committed to offering a formal setting to help facilitate these connections at the SIOP Annual Conference, including events and a physical space for interviews. The Conference Career Center strives to provide helpful career-related information and resources to both employers and job seekers.

Are there exhibiting or sponsorship opportunities?

Yes, the success of the SIOP Annual Conference is based in part on the support of our partners who provide products and services in the field of industrial-organizational psychology. There are numerous exhibit, sponsor, and advertising partnership opportunities from which to choose. Contact Susan Rogers at srogers@siop.org for more information.

Is there a dress code at the conference?

There is no official dress code for the SIOP Annual Conference. Most attendees wear business attire or business casual attire during their time at the conference. Note that some meeting facilities can have wide variations in temperatures which may be out of SIOP's immediate control. Therefore, you may wish to dress in layers to be comfortable regardless of the room you are in.

Will the Frank Landy 5K Fun Run be offered during the 2024 SIOP Annual Conference?

Due to high costs in Chicago, the Frank Landy 5K Fun Run is cancelled for 2024. The plan is for the event to return in Denver in 2025. The Conference Committee is looking at sponsorship or other revenue streams to bring back the event without raising costs for runners. If you’re interested in sponsoring the Fun Run in 2025 or have other ideas, please reach out to Susan Rogers at srogers@siop.org
