We will be joined by a tenured external consultant who will share her experiences as an external consultant, what to know before pursuing external consulting, and some lessons she’s learned along the way.

We will hear from an innovative design thinking guru about how you can use data, storytelling, and elements of design in your future roles to help set you apart.
Tuesday, April 2 from 1-3 p.m. CT
- Career Path Series: Internal Consulting
In our second session of the career paths series, we will invite a practitioner who works as an internal consultant to join us and describe her career path, what to know about internal consulting, and tips/tricks for how to maintain a consulting mindset while working internally.
Similar to a TED Talk format, we will have two practitioners join us to share their “hot takes” on topics we don’t typically learn about in school.
Thursday, April 4 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. CT
- Career Path Series: Government
In this session, we will learn more about the type of work I/O’s do in the government sector, what to know about working for the government, and any tips for applying for government roles.
- Integrating I/O and Business
Over the years, newly graduated I/O’s have struggled to manage the research-practitioner gap and translate the things we’ve learned in an academic setting to real-world scenarios (especially to leaders who have never heard of I/O). Our speakers will share their experience, provide some business foundations every I/O should know, and share best practices for how to successfully integrate I/O into the workplace.
Tuesday, April 9 from 1-3 p.m. CT
- Career Path Series: Assessment
We will be joined by a practitioner who works in the assessment industry who will share their experiences in the industry, what to know about working with assessments, and some lessons learned along the way.
- The Importance of Personal Branding that is Authentic and Sustainable
We will hear from a dynamic speaker who will share tips and tricks for how to create an authentic professional brand at work and how to navigate the complexities of professionalism.
Thursday, April 11 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. CT
- Professional Development & Closing
We’ll take some time to discuss professional development, will have extended Q&A time, and will close out our master’s consortium by learning how to stay involved in the I/O community.
Optional: in-person joint session + coffee break networking on Wednesday April 17th
We look forward to meeting you at the 2024 SIOP Master’s Consortium!
