The American Psychological Association (APA) Committee for the Advancement of General Applied Psychology (CAGAP) is seeking new members, particularly graduate students and early career professionals, to start on January 1, 2026.
Applications are due by January 31, 2025.
What is CAGAP?
CAGAP seeks to promote the use, application, and advancement of psychological and behavioral science to solve individual, group, and systemic challenges in contexts outside of basic research and apart from direct therapeutic healthcare. Dr. Sonji Jones-Manson is the 2025 Chair and SIOP Member Gena Cox is Chair-Elect for 2026.
What is applied psychology?
CAGAP defines applied psychology as the work of psychology that occurs outside of laboratory and therapeutic settings. There are numerous areas of applied psychology, and it is important that they be well-represented on the committee.
The nominations process requires a brief letter and CV, but not a letter of recommendation. To learn more about the committee and the nomination process, please visit the APA Nomination Portal webpage.
