Earlier this year, the APA released its annual Trends Report, highlighting 11 emerging trends in psychological science.

Several themes arose in the compilation of this report. According to the APA, “In 2023, psychological science will be at the core of addressing pressing societal issues. The future of work, the mental health of the nation’s youth, and large-scale change will all depend on the work of psychologists and collaboration with others.”

  5. Worker well-being is in demand
  6. Efforts to improve childrens’ mental health increase

  8. Suicide prevention gets a new lifeline
  9. Some faculty exit academia
  10. Venture capitalists shift focus
  11. Psychologists rebrand the field
