Greetings, the Psychology of Technology Institute invites doctoral students to apply for our 2025 Dissertation Awards, recognizing outstanding research on how technology shapes human behavior and society. We are awarding three $1,000 prizes and up to three honorable mentions.
Who Can Apply?
Doctoral students in psychology, organizational behavior/psychology, communications, marketing, computer science, information science, anthropology, or related fields who have proposed or defended their dissertation in 2024.
Research Topics:
We welcome dissertations that explore the psychological determinants and consequences of adopting new technologies. Topics can include (but are not limited to):
- AI & Automation: AI assistants, large language models (LLMs), robots, algorithmic decision-making, AI companions
- Impact of Tech on Social Influence & Behavior: Social media, misinformation, polarization, tech and mental/physical well-being
- Privacy & Ethics: Algorithmic bias, surveillance, data privacy, ethical concerns in AI
- Work & Productivity: AI in the workplace, future of work, digital time management tools
- Immersive Technologies: Virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), deepfakes, digital identity
- Consumer & Communication Trends: Adoption of new tech, human-computer interaction, attitudes toward technology
How to Apply
Applicants should submit:
- Dissertation title
- Abstract (≤ 600 words)
- Updated CV
- Letter of recommendation from dissertation advisor (sent separately)
