The SIOP Professional Practice Committee is proud to have launched the fifth year of the SIOP Practitioner Mentoring Program. This program matches practitioners earlier in their careers with more experienced practitioners with the goal of accelerating career growth and development of those being mentored.

“My mentor has been instrumental in advancing my career,” said Matt C., a 2024 protégé. “We hit the ground running with a goal to increase strategic influence in my role as an individual contributor. My mentor provided advice and resources as well as actions to take at critical moments in my work owning the listening program at my organization to better connect with stakeholders and provide them with insights to improve the employee experience.”

“After accomplishing these goals over the past several months, I started thinking about my next step,” Matt continued. “I am proud and excited to report that I have just accepted a director-level role at a new organization, in a new industry, where I will have the opportunity to lead a team and build a new listening program. I highly recommend the SIOP Practitioner Mentoring Program to anyone looking to take their career to the next level.”

The program is open to all SIOP practitioner members. To apply to be a mentor, visit this link.  To apply to be a protégé, please click here. All applications are due Friday, January 31, 2025.

Some key points about the program:

  • The mentoring program is pair based, with one mentor working with one protégé.
  • The program is 10 months in duration, kicking off in March and concluding in December.
  • Participants should plan on meeting (virtually) for about 2 hours per month.
  • Prospective protégés need to be employed in the field of I-O psychology and preferably in their current role for at least 6 months. SIOP Student Members are not eligible for this program.
  • Prospective mentors should have at least 5 years of professional experience in the field.
  • Participants will be matched based on the protégé’s stated goals for mentoring and the mentor’s strengths. They are also matched based on career track.
