The SIOP 2020 Program Emergency Task Force is working hard to bring you a new way to experience the SIOP Conference and access the latest cutting-edge research. Preliminary details about the virtual conference and an FAQ page are available at https://0-www-siop-org.library.alliant.edu/Annual-Conference and will continue to be updated.

Here are the basics:

1. The conference will be virtual and asynchronous, so the presentations will be online for you to access as your schedule permits in mid-June
2. You will be able to interact with presenters and other attendees using the popular Whova app
3. You will be able to access the sessions and Whova only if you are registered for the conference. Not registered yet? You will be able to register soon, and at the early conference registration rate!
4. Accepted conference submitters are being contacted soon to invite them to participate by sharing their research and session materials in the virtual event.

How should I-O psychologists engage in the open science movement that is all around us? That’s the subject of an important and informative panel discussion at 35^th Annual SIOP Conference slated for this April 23-25 in Austin, Texas. This session will be Thursday, April 23, 3:30-4:20 in Room 402-403 at the JW Marriot hotel.

Open science is relatively new to the research and practice of I-O psychology and  includes activities such as preregistering research plans, providing access to study materials and data, and making key aspects of one’s workflow, such as procedures and analyses, transparent to third parties.

The first part of the SIOP panel will be a tutorial on what open science is—and is not—and to provide major components of the subject. Attendees will then be able to hear more about what SIOP and the American Psychological Association (APA) have been doing around open science, followed by an in-depth discussion about the relevance of open science to I-O psychology in particular.

If you have not yet registered for the 2020 SIOP Conference in Austin, be sure to consider adding the preconference workshops when you submit your registration. The workshops take place on Wednesday, April 22, the day before the actual conference begins, and you can sign up for up to two workshops (one in the morning and one in the afternoon). However, if your schedule does not permit a full day commitment, you also have the option to sign up for a single workshop in either the morning or afternoon. The workshops are a great opportunity to learn from leading experts in the field in an intimate, interactive setting, as well as network with peers facing the same challenges you are and, for those who need them, earn continuing education (CE) credits. If you have already registered for the conference but were not aware of the workshops when you did so, it is very easy to go back and add them to your registration.
